K. Stephan Coburg BA, RHCYT, E-RYT500, SYT

K. Stephan Coburg is the principal teacher, founder and director of The Radiant Hand and The Radiant Hand Academy of Yoga.

Stephan recovered and healed from cancer using a combination of Eastern and Western medicine and other complementary healing techniques, like TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Tai Chi, Qi Gong and yoga, and has been practising these artsfor 20 years and teaching for the past 15 years.

He is a practising Yoga, Qi Gong Teacher and healing therapist and teaches that Yoga is more than just a system of exercise, but serves also as a spiritual practice, which is self – empowering and helps to develop autonomy. He teaches in a way, which allows his students to develop at their own pace and encourages them to “feel the fear and do it anyway” in a safe and welcoming environment.

He spent many years in Nepal with his Guruji, learning and mastering a variety of healing arts including Hatha Yoga as a healing therapy and more dynamic forms of yogasana practice.

From then, Stephan’s sadhana directed him towards many teachers around the world, who have all contributed to his unique style of teaching and understanding of yoga. He continues with his studies of the yoga system as taught by his Guruji and his ethic is that he is the eternal student and embodies the teachings of yoga not only from his lineage, but from all other traditions he has studied, into his own practice. He teaches his disciples and students so that they gain an intuitive educated choice as to which path to follow. There are many paths, only one truth.

An inspiring, dedicated and knowledgeable teacher, students who attend his classes develop a deep understanding of yoga and asana practice, as well as being introduced to the myriads of other spiritual knowledge and tools that are available to him. He brings a wealth of experience to his teaching and to the courses.

When he is not working you will find him climbing the Himalayas or white water rafting in South America, writing or at home with his family.

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world” – Ghandi

Geraldine Grey, Sports Science BSc Hons, CSP, HPC
Director of Teacher Training, The Radiant Hand Acadamy of Yoga & Complimentary Therapies
RHCYT500, RYT500 Yoga Alliance UK

Upon completion of Geraldine’s undergraduate studies in both Sport Science (1997) and Physiotherapy (2000) she worked as a physiotherapist in a variety of different fields and with every new situation, she became more and more disheartened and discontent.

In 1999, Geraldine was involved in a car accident sustaining a lot of injuries, from which she was unable to heal through conventional therapy.

She decided to leave physiotherapy in 2002 and found herself being directed down the path of meditation and thereafter yoga, where she met her Guruji.

Inspired by her Guruji’s holistic approach to healing, Geraldine began developing a new approach under her Guruji’s guidance, which lead to her becoming a holistic physiotherapist and thereby learning the tools to heal her own aches and pains.

On beginning her path with her Guruji Geraldine practiced yoga daily. It was through her Guruji’s passion and love for this subject she was inspired to become a yoga teacher, (completing the approved Diploma in Yoga Teacher Training) under The Radiant Hand, which added a new dimension to her work as a Physiotherapist and Sport Scientist.

As a student of yoga for 10 years now, Geraldine teaches a variety of yoga styles including Hatha, Dynamic Vinyasa, Dynamic Deep Stretch/Yin yoga & Pre & Post Natal yoga.

Geraldine is the Principal of The Radiant Hand School of Yoga, where she teaches and helps to develop the Yoga Teacher training courses along with her colleagues at The Radiant Hand.

Under her Guruji’s tutelage Geraldine has also enhanced her skills in massage, offering the Nuad Boran Northern Style of Thai Yogic Massage, Indian Head Massage, Acupressure, Swedish, Sports & Remedial, Holistic and Deep Tissue massage and Pregnancy massage.

A sensitive and communicative teacher and therapist, she supports all her students and clients alike by connecting with each of them, with a sense and depth of empathy, compassion and strength, much like her own personal sadhana.

Coupling science with holism to support the body’s natural healing power, Geraldine has found a balance in her life that she draws on, encouraging clients and students alike to explore the natural capacity within each of them, to find union, peace and happiness in their lives.

When she is not working you will find her travelling and trekking the world, talking incessantly, or being the world's best mom.

Diccon Wilks BA Hons.
Director of Operations & IT @ The Radiant Hand
RHCYT500, RYT500 Yoga Alliance UK

After being disillusioned with his life as an accountant, and the daily grind, Diccon decided that there had to be more to life than what he was doing. About the same time he also sustained a serious injury to his left shoulder and damaging his left ear whilst DJ’ing one night in a club. In desperation he turned to a self-development course searching for that which he felt was missing in his life.

It was during this course that Diccon was first introduced to spirituality and seven days later he met his Guruji, Stephan Coburg.

Through his Guruji’s gentle encouragement and guidance he decided to follow the path of a healer beginning with his own self-healing. It was whilst going through these different healing processes that Diccon became intrigued by the extraordinary powers of Yoga,Tai Chi & Chi Gong. He was fascinated to learn the techniques to raise prana/chi within the physical body, which he could then direct, to create healing for himself, uniting all parts of himself again.

Inspired by his own healing, Diccon furthered his studies to become a yoga teacher under The Radiant Hand, where he now teaches. His repertoire of teaching, include a variety of different styles including Hatha, Dynamic Flow or Vinyasa and Dynamic Deep Stretch/Yin Yoga.

As his interest in healing and energy began to develop his interest in other forms of spirituality also grew. Guided by his teacher Diccon also holds the title of Erulian (Runemaster) in which he can offer rune readings for a deeper insight into things. Please contact the office for a reading.

He is also a confident teacher in the Short Form Yang Style Tai Chi Quan and 8 Forms Chi Gong and is qualified in the Nuard Boran Northern Style Thai Yogic massage and Holistic Massage. He is currently studying Traditional Chinese Medicine with a view to adding acupuncture to his repertoire in the not too distant future.

Diccon is Operations Director at The Radiant Hand. He is the man who maintains the smooth running of all techie things at The Sanctuary.

When he is not working you will find him in the studio making and producing music, in the kitchen baking a cake or sleeping.

Graham Hyman
General & Business Development Manager,
RHCYT500, RYT500 Yoga Alliance UK

Graham wanted to become a yoga teacher because of his own deep love and belief in the life enhancing qualities, that a regular yoga practice and dedicated study with his Guruji, Stephan Coburg, helped him to create.

After suffering for many years with backache, tension headaches and stress, Graham was fortunate enough to discover yoga as a positive means to help relieve his discomfort and anxiety. After completing several introductory Hatha yoga courses while at university, Graham started practicing yoga on a regular basis studying with Rod Watson in the Ashtanga tradition in Manchester.

After moving to London and finding his Guruji, Graham went on to study yoga with The Radiant Hand Academy of Yoga. After qualifying and demonstrating suitable skill and competency, Graham took the leap of faith and left his position in Office Management and started teaching yoga full time as his sadhana.

His classes tend to be very grounded and strong, with an emphasis towards developing focus and mindfulness though a vinyasa based practice, which is reflective of his own personal sadhana. Graham’s students love the diversity, challenge and personal growth his classes bring to them.

Graham continues to benefit on a personal level from his teacher’s unique and influential style of yoga, which creates a dynamic and ever evolving understanding of how yoga can be used to access the limitless capabilities of the mind. Teaching all levels, Graham's style of teaching include Hatha, Dynamic Hatha, Dynamic, Vinyasa, Yogalates and Ashtanga.

Graham has also qualified in Nuad Boran Northern Style of Thai Yogic Massage and is currently studying other forms of healing with his Guruji.

As Development Manager for The Radiant Hand, he organises and sorts out all retreats and events, and is the man that gets things done. Everyone should own a Graham!

When he is not working you will find him walking his four dogs, or in the garden cultivating his vegetables, or in the kitchen munching.

Tish Vail
Creative Design Manager,
RHCYT500

After many years living a hectic modern life, Tish’s life suddenly came to a grinding halt when her knee snapped during a windsurfing trick that went horribly wrong. After a year of intensive treatment she was told that she could not go back to any type of sport or exercise for a long period of time and that she might have a limp for the rest of her life.

Disheartened by this, she was recommended to try a yoga class, where she stumbled upon, her to be Guruji, Stephan Coburg.

In her first class with him, he diagnosed in a few minutes, that she had broken her knee and carefully structured certain postures so that she could gain more benefits from them and help her knee. After that class she was hooked, not only had her knee stopped hurting but she began to feel happier and stronger within herself and with more acceptance with her injury.

She decided to take her inquiry of yoga and healing deeper and asked Stephan to become one of his disciples. Now after many years, as his disciple, she has developed a perseverance and a growing passion and love for yoga and healing and has recently qualified as a yoga teacher under the discerning eye of her Guruji.

She teaches at The Radiant Hand, preferring to teach Beginners Classes, as it reminds her of time when she first came to yoga and what it instilled into her, she teaches with this in mind and is sensitive to the Beginners needs.

She balances working for a blue chip design agency in the City with her yoga teaching and says that it is because of her daily morning practice at 5.45am that gives her daily inspiration, as it allows her to explore her creativity in a completely fresh way. Creative by nature, she heads up the creative design team at The Radiant Hand with her fresh outlook and natural talent.

Tish is also a qualified practitioner in the Nuad Boran Northern Style of Thai Yogic Massage, and is currently learning and exploring about other concepts of healing under the guidance of her guruji.

When she is not working you will find Tish, painting or drawing (birthday cards are her speciality), or in the garden feeding, cleaning & collecting eggs from our chickens, or, if you are really lucky, telling you one of her ‘special’ stories.

Kate

Kate Mundie
Office Manager
RHCYT500

A former gym bunny, Kate attended a Radiant Hand Yoga class by chance (if there is such a thing) at her local gym. She was pleasantly surprised to discover that Yoga could be as much of a challenging ‘work out’ if not more so due to the mind body connection that yoga creates. This helped to alleviate many of the strains and tensions she was experiencing in her daily life.

It was at this point that Kate discovered that she was discontent with her life in London including her high profile job in the fashion industry. She also found herself continually plagued with anxiety due to the stress she experienced as part of her fast paced lifestyle, and illness, which came to a head when Kate was diagnosed with Shingles.

Shortly after experiencing yoga with The Radiant Hand, Kate decided to give up her gym membership and dedicate herself to the practice and study of yoga. She enrolled on Introduction to Yoga Level I with The Radiant Hand, and at this point met the man she would eventually ask to become her Guruji.

Her passion for Yoga was already flourishing and she was keen to learn more about this philosophy as a way of life, not just the physical practice.  All aspects of her study of yoga presented her with the tools to manage her day to day challenges in line with yoga philosophy, and the self belief to leave her job and the rat race which she had been trapped in for far too long. It was at this point that she dedicated herself entirely to the study and practice of Yoga under the close guidance and tutelage of her Guruji.

As a teacher at The Radiant Hand, Kate continues to guide her students towards their own healing though yoga, guiding them to use similar techniques to help bring sense to the chaos of daily life. Kates repertoire of teaching includes Hatha Yoga, and Beginners Dynamic Yoga.

Kate is also responsible for the day to day running of The Radiant Hand, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.

When she is not teaching or looking after The Sanctuary, Kate can be found tidying up, giggling uncontrollably or if you’re lucky, in the kitchen baking one of her speciality cakes. Yum!
